On the attacks in Mali: Statement by the High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini

Today Mali is once again in mourning, and Europe as well as Africa shares in its grief.

Our response to these terrorist attacks is, more than ever, a united response. That is the message I gave to the Heads of State of the Sahel G5 (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger) when we met in Chad to discuss our cooperation in the fight against terrorism and on security, development and migration.

I spoke to Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, President of Mali, and the other Heads of State in a restricted session. I offered the EU's condolences and confirmed that we are ready to strengthen our support for Mali and the region using all our means, including those relating to defence and security.

The EU and Africa are united in their response to the terrorist threat. Together we are stronger.
