Ninth Round of EU-Japan free trade negotiations to be held in Brussels

The European Union and Japan will hold their ninth round of negotiations toward a bilateral free trade agreement in Brussels from 23 to 27 February.

Mauro Petriccione, deputy director-general at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade, will be the chief negotiator for the EU side, while the Japanese negotiating team will be headed by Ambassador Yasumasa Nagamine, deputy minister for foreign affairs.

These negotiations were formally launched by leaders on both sides in March 2013.
