EU High Representative Ashton to visit Japan

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, will visit Japan, arriving on Sunday, 27 October.

On Monday, 28 October, she will meet with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida for an exchange of views on prospects for bilateral relations between the EU and Japan, including enhancing cooperation on the security and economic fronts. They will also discuss how the EU and Japan could further their joint efforts toward a more stable and prosperous international community. The High Representative will also separately meet with Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera and Mr Shunichi Suzuki, chairman of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.

The High Representative is also expected to visit the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima during her visit.
