EU leaders to visit Japan

European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, European Commission President José Manuel Barroso and European Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht will visit Japan on the occasion of the EU-Japan Summit to be held on 25 March, 2013.

During their stay, the three will also attend a lunch co-hosted by the European Business Council and Keidanren. Presidents Van Rompuy and Barroso will have an audience with the Emperor and separate meetings with House of Representatives Speaker Bunmei Ibuki and the EU-Japan Parliamentary League of Friendship.

On Sunday, 24 March, President Van Rompuy will visit Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, where he will visit some cultural sites and be conferred Special Honorary Citizenship by Matsuyama Mayor Katsuhito Noshi.
